Founded in 1910, the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) is the independent voice for public health in Canada with links to the international community. As the only Canadian non-governmental organization focused exclusively on public health, CPHA is uniquely positioned to advise decision-makers and to guide initiatives to help safeguard the personal and community health of Canadians and people around the world. With a diverse membership representing more than 25 professions, a track record of success, a collaborative approach and national reach, CPHA is Canada's Public Health Leader. The Conference will be held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba from 7-10 June 2009 with the theme Public Health in Canada: Strengthening Connections. It is anticipated that 800-1000 delegates will attend the conference, including public health physicians, community health nurses, administrators, professors and researchers in universities and colleges, nutritionists, planners, public health officers, Aboriginal community representatives, government workers, policy-makers and individuals interested in issues that affect community and public health. 7th International Conference on Imagination and Education Imaginative Education is a new approach that believes engaging student's imagination in learning and teacher's imagination in teaching is crucial to making knowledge in the curriculum vivid and meaningful. This approach provides for learning environments that are more inclusive and engaging places, where learners gain a deeper, more lasting and more flexible understanding of subject matter; it also provides new skills, energy, and inspiration for educators themselves. This yearly international conference provides academics with a venue for discussing new theories and ideas and educators with practical resources for designing teaching and learning processes that engage a greater range of emotions and cognitive abilities. 30th Stress and Anxiety Research Society Conference The main themes for 2009 will focus on experimental as well as applied aspects of anxiety and coping in particular we welcome proposals on cognitive and psychophysiological processes in stress and anxiety appraisal and coping styles, repressive coping, methods for cognitive bias modifications, clinical and health interventions, measurement and assessment a positive emotions. Special interest will be given to terrorism, natural catastrophes, etc. The health related aspects of dance and sports activities will be discussed in workshops. The next few years will be a time of change for MCH. Budget cuts have MCH professionals struggling to prioritize services and programs for women, children and families. At the same time, new ideas for reframing urban MCH around a Life Course Health Development Model have re-energized the field. Researchers interested in both biological and social/environmental influences on behavior, health, and development will be represented, including researchers whose work emphasizes behavioral endocrinology, behavior genetics, neuroscience, evolutionary psychology, sociology, demography, anthropology, economics, and psychology. Symposium presenters will consider physiological and social environmental influences on parenting and early childhood development, followed by adolescent adjustment, and family formation. Conference participants will have the opportunity to consider research, policy, and practice from a child’s rights perspective in order to further the quality of their work with children, families and communities. 2010 Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) Annual Conference The Annual Conference of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America is designed to meet the educational needs of members and nonmember clinicians and researchers. Current data suggests that in any given year more than 40 million adults in the United States suffer from an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders are the most commonly diagnosed disorders in children. ADAA members are among the leading experts in the field of anxiety disorders. Many researchers identify the underlying mechanisms for these disorders and develop new treatment strategies, as well as conduct research on effectiveness. The desired results for the meeting are that attendees learn the latest developments in preclinical and clinical research, translate this knowledge to clinicians, and develop new skills and techniques to improve diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of anxiety disorders. 2010 International Conference on Sport and Society The 2010 Sport and Society Conference will address a range of critically important issues and themes relating to the Sport and Society.
